Ever flown to the edge of a mile-deep hole in the ground? Join us October 23-25, 2026 for a flyout to Grand Canyon National Park Airport (KGCN), perched at 6,606 feet on the Coconino Plateau just minutes from the South Rim. Late October is prime time: the summer crowds have thinned, the air is crisp, and the light on the canyon walls at sunrise is worth the early alarm. Once we’re parked, it’s a shuttle to Mather Point, a walk along the Rim Trail, a sunset from Hopi Point, and a warm dinner in Tusayan while the stars come out over the pines.
It’s a fun weekend, but we’ll plan it like instrument pilots. We’ll brief density altitude on a cool morning versus a warm afternoon, high-country fall weather and early-season cold fronts, and the special airspace rules around the canyon before anyone launches.
